OK, let me begin by stating that this place is definitely a "mom and pop" kind of sushi place..... family owned and run. The decor is nothing special. In fact, as a regular, I would be thrilled if they updated it :) BUT decor is not the reason I visit Tokyo! Perhaps it's because I'm a regular, but I always get fantastic service there. They know me and ask my fiance and I about our lives and jobs.... they are very personable! They have our orders memorized! My fiance always gets the M80, spicy tuna, beef teriyaki dish with miso soup! I usually rotate between the real crab california, special cucumber roll, and the glen burnie roll.... but the spider and the rainbow rolls are also fantastic. The sake is also good. My only gripe is that they are closed on Sundays and they close for a couple hours between lunch and dinner. Sushi is about great flavor, and while ambiance is nice, it doesn't detract from my LOVE for Tokyo Sushi.

My husband & I have been going to Tokyo Sushi for 13+ years-- I thought it was important to make sure people knew that they have the BEST Miso soup!!! The sushi is always fresh and we are always greeted with a smile....

This was THE WORST sushi I've ever eaten, and that includes the time I ate sushi at a gas station (that place was actually pretty good - yelp.com/biz/lees-fresh-… ). I could talk about the poorly constructed rolls, the way the cucumber roll was basically just nori and half a cucumber, unsliced, but really what got me was the way the take out boxes are stored in the men's room. Eat it at your own risk.

Got the yellow dragon roll which was scallop, tuna with lemon and shrimp tempura roll. Had never had lemon on maki, it was cut very thin and gave it a nice kick. Delicious. I don't visit Glen Burnie often but would visit Tokyo Sushi again.

Sometimes I really worry about the quality of the reviews on Yelp. Normally I don't post reviews. In this case, I definitely will. 1. The Decor: I should've walked out when I walked in and saw that it looked like a couple guys grabbed some scraps off a construction site and put together a sushi bar with it. Hands-down the worst decor of any sushi restauarant I've been to. They don't even have a cash register in this place. 2. The Service. The woman who "helped" us acted like answering our questions was a hassle and gave vague answers when we asked for clarification on their already vague menu. 3. The Price. About what you'd expect. Not good, not bad. 4. The Food. Not much more needs to be said here beyond the fact that I've just swallowed two Immodium. The flavor was fine. We had sashimi and two maki rolls. Typically "bad" fish also tastes bad, but this had an OK flavor. However, as someone who eats sushi several times a month, I can tell you that my urgent need to run to the bottle of Immodium after sushi is rare. Out of all the places in the area to go have sushi, this one should be last on the list.

Our favorite local sushi joint! Once you get in good with the owner, she will look out for ya! Love the fire dragon, special eel and ninja turtle roll!! We've been coming for years. It's always fresh!

I finally found a sushi place that delivers! OMG, I'm in heaven. We ordered and it was here within 15 minutes- no joke. The fish was fresh and they also offer thai food if sush isn't your thing. Not that bad price wise. They are closed on Mondays fyi (it's still on their menu as open but now it's been changed) The delivery guy is awesome and isn't scared of the dogs, I love it when you become a regular and they know you by name. Not bad for Columbia :)

I take my family to Tokyo Sushi several times a year. The food is always pretty good. There is a large selection of sushi and noodle/rice dishes. I have had just about everything on the menu twice and it is always good. The prices are really good too. If Sushi Hana (Thai One On) were closer I would never go back to Tokyo Sushi. The service is always questionable and it seems that they are doing you a favor by serving you.

This place is fantastic. I've been a few times now and I'll definitely be back. The staff is very friendly and the food is terrific! Hot towels served before food are like a mini hot tub for your hands/face and the sushi is wonderful and fresh.

Atmosphere: Lovely Japanese style dining interior. Fairly low lighting. Coat rack by front door. Service: Just okay. We kept having to ask to have our waters refilled. We liked how they presented us with hot towels before dining. Food: Sushi was just OK. Meh quality ingredients. The food tasted alright, not bad, but nothing fantastic. Small portions for the expensive price.

This was my first visit. I was in a hurry, so I picked up some lunch to-go. I tried the Chicken Teriyaki w/shrimp and Veggie Tempura. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Its a nice establishment, hidden in a shopping center. I can't wait to try other items on the menu.

I have been here twice now and the sushi is great. I have gone late at night so the service has been fast and wonderful. I will be coming here again in the future.

We have been coming here for years and love the freshness of the sushi. They get overwhelmed by crowds on certain nights, but everything is always great and worth the wait. They serve traditional sushi, so expect the usual rolls and offerings. My kids love the fried rice! I usually get the spicy bowl, which is a change from the usual sushi combination plate. Try the spider roll.

Just grabbed take out sushi from here tonight. I got the Toyko roll and the Crazy roll, along with a miso soup. The place seems clean, has a pretty well stocked bar, and the few people in there were clearly regulars. They were talking with the woman who fretted me about vacation and whatnot. The food was good. Not great, but a solid good. The rice could have been done better but there are zero complaints about the fish. The soup was still hot when I got home, 10ish minutes later. I will definitely be back. I also included photos of the real menu, as I notice that the menu on here is wrong.

I should have written this review last night, when the names of what I ate were fresh in my mind. It really doesn't matter, though, because everything was excellent. My friends peer-pressured me into trying the sweet shrimp which, in case you don't know, is the uncooked body and tail of the shrimp, with the head and attached legs and thorax of the shell crispy-fried and served next to the uncooked tail (which is all of the meat). Yes, the head is to be eaten and, despite my squeamishness with eyes, I ate it all. It was very good, although I might not have actually done it without the assistance of my bottle of Snow Maiden nigori sake. The M80 was phenomenal, as was the special sushi ($12 for 5 pieces) whose name I can't remember. Sorry, but it had some jalapeño, a lot of fish, and was excellent.

If I could give a zero star I would. I ordered a spicy tuna and an eel roll for my wife. The spicy tuna was substandard. I wouldn't even feed to this sh** to my dog...... She threw up after eating a couple pieces.

This has been my family's go-to sushi place for years! We've never had any complaints. We love the prices. We love the couple that runs the place. The husband makes the sushi. The wife seats. The fish and the rice taste fresh enough. It looks pretty. We love it! Lately, it hasn't been very crowded and we don't know why... Favorite rolls in order: special eel. Tokyo. Rainbow. Crazy. Sumo.

The best sushi anywhere in the area. Sit at the sushi bar and let the chef make suggestions. I even tried the oyster shooter with the quail egg. It was fabulous! I always take what is recommended. Casual atmosphere with a great drinks list. Service is great.

Went again last night, had another great meal. The sushi here is incredibly fresh and delicious, consistent every visit. We had the Sashimi appetizer, miso soup, 3 different rolls and a couple specials. The m-80 and dynamite have a fresh spicy scallop I just can't find anywhere else, wrapped in salmon or tuna. . Simply incredible. We've been going here for 8 years, and it's definitely my favorite sushi place.

Scandalous!!! Very few items on the "explore menu" tab are actually on the menu. We were in the area and wanted sushi. We were going to go to Sakura, but after using the Yelp app to explore the menu of this place, we did not walk...we ran here. There were specifically 4 things on that menu I came looking for - Tuna Tataki, Broiled's Yellowtail's Cheek, Green oinion and beef roll and wanton soup. NOT ONE on the paper menu handed to me at the restaurant. And then...the food wasn't good save for the green salad's ginger dressing - that dressing and not terrible service is the reason for the second star. That's it. The fried food was oil logged from being fried at a low temp. My tuna sashimi was so fibrous I couldn't stomach it. The fish was not very fresh at all. I was just unhappy and think if I'm in the area again and really want sushi that I'll look elsewhere. This was a disappointment.

Dear People Who are Being Rough on Tokyo Sushi: Please keep in mind that this is Glen Burnie. If you grew up in the area, as I did, there were many years when you wouldn't have been able to fathom that a sushi bar could exist in 21060 without spontaneously combusting into a puddle of melted cheese. So, that fact established, I can go on to say that the sushi was very good. Fresh ingredients, a talented chef (we like to sit at the bar where we can watch him) and reasonable prices. The decor is a little odd, but I find it homey, and the servers are friendly to match. We've tried almost all of the rolls (except anything with cream cheese in it -- I guess it's a nod to the area, but ugh, cream cheese in sushi?!) and enjoyed them; everything is artfully prepared and served with the customary wasabi and pickled ginger. I also like their seaweed salad, crunchy and filling with a pleasant sesame flavor. Cold sake comes in an adorable little bottle. Oh, and before you eat, they'll bring you a steaming, scented wash cloth to sponge off your hands and face; it's a heavenly way to begin your meal. So, yes. Nothing amazing. But authentic Japanese cuisine in Glen Burnie? That's nothing short of a miracle.

Tokyo Sushi is the absolute best place to go for sushi in the Pasadena/Glen Burnie/Annapolis area. It is literally one of the best kept secrets around. I've tried pretty much all of the sushi places in this area and Tokyo is the only one that I return to time and time again. I highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Roll, TNT Roll, Oyster Shooters, Chirashi and Sashimi Deluxe. I have not had anything from Tokyo Sushi that I have not enjoyed thoroughly. I'm also a big fan of the laid back environment and friendly attitude that everyone at Tokyo displays.

This place was pretty good to crave your sushi fix. The owner is really friendly and seems to know a lot of the people that come in. The rolls are really cheap (even the specialty ones) ranging from $5 to $10. The ninja is REALLY good! I def recommend it. TNT is a nice cheap roll and the salmon sashimi plate was really refreshing. Only thing reason i knock it to 3 stars instead of 4 is it's not super clean. The green tea cup had sticky residue on the side of the lip of the cup, the floor wasn't the cleanest, and the bathroom is used for some storage.

This place is so terrible. I ordered tempra udon and they bring me the Chinese lomein noodle and telling me it is udon noodle. Come on man, I am Korean and I know what the udon noodle and lomein noodle look. This is completely unacceptable but they will sell this under udon.. And fried rice is so greasy and take like a Chinese fried rice. I can cook better than this. This store should change the name to china sushi. Not Tokyo sushi... Very very upset..

Locally known, and popular sushi place in the area, Tokyo Sushi. Food and service is mildly best at times. I have ate here several times, each time, I left disappointed. Sushi, here is okay at best, I did have one of the worst California rolls from here though. As for the other rolls, they're passable for grocery store quality sushi, and I am not referring to Whole Foods sushi, either. Also the miso soup was some of the worst I have ever had. Customer service was probably the best thing about this location. Since they have been open for a while their regulars and Shokunin will talk will they prepare your meal. The decor is basic and out of date, generic sushi house place mats, and disposable chop-sticks will accompany you for your meal. They do also have a hot towel service, one reason I gave them two nit just one star. As for seating, they offer tables, a few booths and seating at the sushi bar.

So after reading some of the reviews I thought this place would be a great for take out sushi. We stopped in after my nieces birthday to place an order. First thing you smell is the DISGUSTING carpet, and they have old fans covered with dust blowing all over the place. My husband went to use the restroom, and when he came back said he was not eating a thing of there. There is a freezer in the men's room FULL of food. I still got sushi because that cannot be a frozen product and I could see all of it. Long story short. We will not be returning. The staff is not friendly, the restaurant is disgusting, that's putting it nicely, and the sushi was made very poorly.. all of my rolls fell apart. Thankfully I can tell fresh sushi from bad sushi and it was pretty fresh.. That was all they had going for them. The smell of the carpet and burning teriyaki sauce will make you sick alone!

This place always has extremly fresh yummy sushi. They always treat us like family . I dont care about about the decor (afterall we are in Glen Burnie not New York people). Its all about the food, which is AWESOME! I have been in pleanty of places with Amazing decor and Crappy food. You are noy eating the decor afterall! The special cucumber roll which has king crab leg and avocado etc wrapped in paper thin cucumber and sitting in vingar is my favorite! This IS a mom and Pop place and they work very long hours so forgive them if they close a few hours durung the day to recoupe and on Sundays (everyone needs a day off) JEEZ! I love this place and cant imagine how it could have ANY bad reviews.

Me and my wife have been going here once a month for awhile now. We used to go to Kyoto but they have seemed to go downhill. The sushi is great. I usually get some sort of sashimi and it is very fresh. The atmosphere is quaint but the sushi makes up for it trust me. For any of you that right a review and say bad things because its located in Glen Burnie are idiot's and should stick to eating garbage sushi at Sakura and any other chain/buffet restaurants.

After reading all the great reviews, I took my family to Tokyo Sushi to experience it for myself. So let's break it down... First the service...we were not greeted, just found an empty table to sit down. The place was small and the decor looked like a nursing home cafeteria like a preious yelper had mentioned. Not very appetizing. The menus were dirty and definitely needed a wipe down. The lady also gave us old used napkins with water marks and stains on them!! I tell myself that I came to eat good sushi and I can't expect good service when I'm at an asian restaurant. We ordered the tempura and various rolls. The rice I got for my son wasn't even warm. The sushi rolls looked like they were rolled by an amateur and were served on mismatching tableware. Even though the sushi pieces were falling apart and barely circular, I give it 2.5 stars out of 5. Overall, while the food isn't awful, the service and general ambiance of this place made me wish I went to the hibachi restaurant next door.

I have been here several times for business lunches. For the area, it's actually a pretty good restaurant. The key words being for the area. If I'm in the Glen Burnie/Severna Park area I look forward to eating here. The restaurant is clean. Service is good. The pieces are on the smaller side, but the texture is alright. They have all the usual rolls as well. If you are in the area or live in the area I'd say this is a great option. If you have 20 minutes, drive to Baltimore.

Tokyo Sushi looks like a strange place, but the sushi is very good. The rolls are interesting and exciting without being too crazy to scare off sushi newbies. Everything always tastes fresh, and is perfectly prepared. They do takeout, but you want to call ahead, otherwise it's a little bit of a wait. Also, watch out for the strange hours. I think they have lunch hours, then close for a few hours before opening for dinner.

One of the best places to eat in Glen Burnie. I did not think a sushi place in Glen Burnie would be that great honestly, but boy was i wrong. The sushi is very fresh and the rolls are very creative. My favorite is the M-80, i can eat those all day. The sumo roll is also a must try but minus the cream cheese. The owners are very nice, its a family run place. They also have a stamp card that gives you $20 off your dinner entree when its filled.

My friend took me here for dinner, telling me I would have to try it, im glad i did. It is one of the best places in glen burnie. Their rolls are great and the sushi is fresh. I love the sumo roll and is addicted to there m-80 (a must try). I come here every chance i get now.

Sushi in GLEN BURNIE?!? I know, I know. But please wait. Seriously - hear me out. My best friend, before she moved to NYC, lived in Glen Burnie. When I first met her, she didn't eat sushi, but then she went away to school and came back a wiser person with a much more developed sense for gastronomic adventure. However, even my ability to eat anything and everything without batting an eye was sorely tested when she wanted to have dinner at the local Glen Burnie sushi joint. I mean, come on, right? There *ARE* limits to a friendship. So with much trepidation, I ate at Tokyo Sushi. And it was GOOD! To start with - the restaurant is rather cute. A little 80's, and a little "nursing-home cafeteria in Japan", but still, for Glen Burnie, it's pretty cute. The servers were very sweet, and while I seriously doubt their ability to speak much English (trying to tell them how to make a screwdriver was an exercise in hilarity), they were very attentive, without being annoying, and prompt. I was surprised that they had edamame as an appetizer...and even more surprised when the edamame wasn't mushy or over cooked. I think that's when I started to relax and enjoyed my meal. Prior to receiving our appetizer, we are always given some hot towels to wipe our hands. This is a double bonus in the winter, as the restaurant tends to run a little on the chilly side. The sushi is solidly decent. Nothing fancy or new or "fusion" about any of their rolls - they are very traditional and solid. The way sushi rolls used to be, before the glut in sushi restaurants drove sushi chefs to create new and weird combination of rolls (and I don't care what anyone says...cream cheese in a sushi roll is just SICK. SICK I tell you!). Solid, big, and with plenty of crisp ingredients, the rolls really hit the spot. The nigiri is pretty good as well. The cuts of fish are fresh, big and lovingly draped over a perfectly oval bit of rice. I would like to see a smidge more wasabi in between the fish and the rice, however I have a wasabi-fetish. Since my first visit to Tokyo Sushi, 10 years ago, I've been back numerous times. Each time, the experience has been solid and satisfying. I wouldn't drive out of my way to dine there, but if I'm coming back from Baltimore or Annapolis, and I suddenly get a craving for some decent, basic sushi - this is the place to go.

I went to dine here and left feeling disappointed. The sushi is mediocre and the service was poor. I would recommend going to EAST MOON ASIAN BISTRO if your in the Glen Burnie area!

  • Allie H.

This place to me still has the best sushi in gb. But the international market in the same plaza (across from boston market) has pretty good sushi as well and their prices are the cheapest. East moon bistro on ritchie highway also has good sushi as well and their prices are around the same as tokyo sushi's but tokyo sushi has better sushi. The food is always good and everything is always fresh tasting. Definitely the place to go and insatiate your sushi cravings.

As per other reviews the decor is lacking but we ordered take out so... food was good. I would order take out from them again. In a side note the are closed after lunch and reopen at 5pm for dinner.

Best Sushi I've had in the Baltimore area. They also have pretty decent offerings of other Japanese food. The service is good and the staff are all extremely friendly and make you feel welcome.
